Born and bred in the heart of Georgia, Coach McCart's journey in track and field began at South Gwinnett High School. Here, he first discovered his passion for the sport, igniting a flame that would carry him to remarkable heights.
A standout athlete, McCart soared to victory as a champion in the junior Olympics decathlon, proudly representing the state of Georgia on the national stage. His exceptional talent did not go unnoticed, leading to a coveted track and field scholarship at Coastal Carolina University. McCart found his niche at Coastal Carolina as a Thrower, specializing in the hammer. His dedication and skill propelled him to achieve a record of 63.42 meters, a feat he accomplished at the prestigious Penn Relays. This remarkable achievement solidified his status as a legend in Coastal Carolina's athletic history, earning him a well-deserved place in the university's Hall of Fame.
Transitioning from athlete to mentor, McCart now serves as the head coach for the middle school track team and the throws coach for the high school team at Hebron Christian Academy. With his wealth of experience and passion for the sport, he inspires and guides the next generation of track and field stars, through performance coaching, to reach their full potential. Off the track, Tyler finds fulfillment in his faith as a born-again Christian and cherishes his role as a loving husband and father to his wife Amy of 23 years and their four children: Tyler Jr., Trinity, Timothy, and Taylor. Their unwavering love and support fuel McCart's dedication to his craft, both on and off the field
